Thanksgiving 2007 : We went to my sister house in Texas for Thanksgiving. We had a house full of people we asked everyone to have thier photo taken so we could remember the day. This Thanksgiving was extra special for me because my cousin Alex was released from the hospital to celebrate with us. We had family from California, Arkansas and Texas there and many friends. Hatchett Family : Chris and Monique brought thier new daughter by our house for her first photos and some family photos. We had a good time and but I still don't understand how Monet is pronounced Mo Nay. She kept telling me something about a slient "T", 9 credit hours of college english and never did a single professor explain the slient "T" to me, I want my money back. Garage Band + You = Great Music : At the 2009 EAST Conference Miranda led a session on garage band. Garage Band allows Mac users to compose their own music. 56 breakout sessions were offered with a limited number being hands-on. Miranda was the only student to teach a breakout session. Other hands-on sessions taught were: SketchUp instructed by Mike Springer from Google in Colorado; VersaCAD instructed by Greg Hermono from ArchiCAD in California; Cartographic Design with GIS instructed by Robin Gregory from the Center of Advanced Spatial Technology at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Hands-on sessions are offered to students only. The sessions are an hour and a half with 40 students sharing 20 computers per class. Miranda had a waiting list for her classes. Yes classes, she was asked to teach garage band twice! The conference was attended by 2000+ students and educators from 170 schools in six states. Miranda had a blast once the technical difficulties were worked out and the students began to get excited about what they were learning. I hope she has the opportunity to do this again. Like it or not I think teaching is in her blood too. I am so proud of her. Enjoy the photos!
